Associateships

& Internships

We offer psychological associateships and internships that are rooted in the psychodynamic/attachment tradition. Supervisees are taught the in’s and out’s of building a private practice, as well as core principles of working from a psychodynamic orientation. The goal is to work with supervisees to create the infrastructure for a sustainable practice once you get licensed.

What makes our training unique is its breadth. Each week we provide one hour of individual supervision and one hour of didactic (including group supervision and case conference). Private practice is a unique setting and knowing how to do long-term open-ended work is of paramount importance.

We are committed to fair and equitable treatment of associates/interns. We offer a highly competitive fee split, with associates taking home 55% of their earnings. We also provide you with all the tools needed to get your practice up and running — a listing on a top online therapist directory, EHR software for notes & billing, and an active business phone number and email address.

Practice-building

  • Highly competitive compensation of 55/45 fee split — 55% going to the supervisee. Supervisees are also compensated for workable hours (writing notes and attending supervision/didactic).

  • First priority for referrals received by the practice.

  • Training in writing copy for online therapy directories and a bio for our website.

  • Assistance with identifying and leaning into your niche and specialty areas.

  • Supervisees are directed toward a number of online resources for referrals.

  • Training in using the practice’s electronic health record to write notes, manage appointments, and bill for sessions.

Depth Therapy

  • The skills supervisees are taught related to depth/psychodynamic therapies include:

    • Moving clients from logical understanding to emotional awareness through experiential interventions.

    • Gaining proficiency in identifying client attachment dynamics through understanding transference & countertransference patterns.

    • Learning to bring ones authentic presence into sessions, while distinguishing boundaries with self-disclosure and authenticity.

    • Integrating a client-centered and trauma-informed approach, moving away from prescriptive treatments.

Supervision

  • We offer weekly didactic and supervision:

    • Individual supervision is focused on the unique needs and goals of the supervisee. We adopt a developmental approach, meaning we strive to meet supervisees at their level to collaboratively identify and work through the supervisees growth-edges.

    • Teaching didactics: Half our didactic time is devoted to instruction about topics related to psychodynamic theory and practice-building.

    • Case conference/group supervision: The other half of our didactic time is devoted to practicing psychodynamic concepts via case discussion and observation of parallel processes, countertransference, etc.
