Help Your Child Launch

An Online Support & Accountability Group for Parents

One of the greatest responsibilities we have as parents is to equip our children with the skills they need to grow into independent, self-confident adults. And when that transition into adulthood doesn’t go the way we hoped, that responsibility can feel like an unbearable burden.

So, if your child can’t seem to get or keep a job or form meaningful relationships, you find yourself bending over backwards to keep them free from anxiety and stress, or you feel as if they may never be able to manage their own life, then keep reading …

Because, if you thought you were going to have to prepare for an empty nest only to feel now like your child may never be ready to leave – you’re far from alone.

Over half of all 18-29-year-olds in the US are living at home with their parents. That’s the highest percentage since the Great Depression. And it's a problem that extends to those in their 30s and crosses all socioeconomic and geographic boundaries.

Growing up isn’t what it used to be.

But this doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do. Help is available for both your child and you in the “Help Your Child Launch” support group for parents!

I know how lonely, frustrating, and helpless it can feel to watch your child fail to successfully transition from adolescence into adulthood.

You feel worn down. Drained. You find yourself obsessing over their behaviors. You feel deflated each time you do something that doesn’t seem to help. After a while, as you watch other parents’ children make their way in the world, hopelessness and desperation begin to set in.

I get it. It’s one of the most difficult topics in all of parenting.

My name is Dr. Carol Deas-Lopez, and as a parent counselor, therapist, and certified addiction expert, and a parent myself — these are the types of issues I help parents navigate and overcome every day in my counseling and psychotherapy practice.

But therapy isn’t always the right answer, which is why I’ve created …

The “Help Your Child Launch” Support Group for Parents

  • Recognize and avoid the “unhelpful” parenting traits and traps that we unwittingly fall into.

  • Learn how any compulsive or addictive behaviors – alcohol, drugs, gaming, shopping, internet use, gambling, etc. – or other mental or behavioral health issues can affect your child’s inability to move forward, and what you can and can’t do to help them work through and resolve these issues.

  • Feel more comfortable about having those “difficult” conversations.

  • Benefit from frank, empathetic, thought-provoking and actionable discussions with other parents who are going through the same experiences.

  • Gain insight and step-by-step plans for setting and maintaining clear, appropriate, fair and healthy expectations, limits, and consequences that help your child achieve self-actualization.

  • Let go of your own anxiety about your child’s future, so you can rediscover and attend to the other relationships in your life … including your relationship with yourself!

It’s important to remember that you and your child haven’t done anything “wrong.” This isn’t about “tough love” or playing the blame game. It’s about finding solutions.

Of course, as much as we might like to, we can’t “fix” our children’s lives. But there’s much we can do and, just as importantly, a lot we shouldn’t do that can help our children find and make their way in the world.

That’s what this group is all about: empowering parents like you to change your relationship with your child and with yourself, so that your child becomes motivated to slide into the driver's seat of their own life and finally transition into adulthood with strength, resilience, and grace.

A path forward awaits. Here’s your chance to give your child and yourself something you both desperately need: a future!

  • Get an objective, guilt-free assessment of why your child is failing to launch.

  • Understand the difference between loving support and unhealthy enabling, so you can stop fixing, rescuing, or trying to control, and instead create an environment that nurtures your child’s own sense of purpose and direction.
